JCP FAQ

Q. Who can I get to help me get my 5 hours coaching required for my licence renewal or my 125cc or 250F accreditation?
A. Any Motorcycling Australia accredited level 1 or 2 coach that is not a member of your immediate family unless it is part of a larger group.

Q. What happens if I go to a race without my log book?
A. You cannot ride unless you present your licence and log book at scrutineering.

Q. My Dad wants to be a coach. How does he go about it?
A. Simply attend a MWA coaching course. A one day course will get him accredited as a Level 0 (or Club Coach). Once he has this he can either complete the DSR coaching manual or attend their General Coaching Principles course and show 30 hours of practical coaching to become a Level 1.

Q. What can a Level 0 coach do?
A. A Level 0 coach can take riders applying for their licence through the new Kick Start training – a more advanced version of the ride test that most of you would have done. A Level 0 can also assist a Level 1 or 2 Coach at any training session.

Q. My Log Book was lost or stolen. What can I do?
A. Call the MWA office as soon as practical. Arrangements can be made to have it replaced as long as the MWA office is made aware of your circumstances. Don’t wait until you get to the track to ask for a new one.

Q. I am endorsed to cpmpete on a 125cc, do I have to do 5 hours accreditation to compete on the 250F?
A. If you are accredited to ride a 125cc but not a 250F, you will need to be accredited on the 250F to compete on that machine (and vice-versa).

Q. I currently race a 65cc but will be moving up to an 85cc soon, do I need to be accredited?
A. No. you only need to be accredited to race a 125cc or 250F

Q. I am a 50cc Demo rider but will be moving to 50cc Auto, what do I need to do?
A. As a Demo is a non-competitive class, you will need to complete the 5 hours coaching as described in the Kick Start manual which is available through your club.

Q. Can I use a professional coaching school to get my 5 hours?
A. Yes, all MA Coaches etc can sign off your coaching in your log book.

Q. What do I need to do with my log book when I get to the track?
A. You need to show your log book with your licence at scrutineering. Your log book will be handed back to you. An official may ask you for your log book if they need to enter a penalty or medical attention received.

Q. How much does coaching cost?
A. It depends on who is running the coaching day. Clubs will be charging a lot less than a professional coach for the coaching needed and may even offer the coaching for free.

Q. When can juniors start getting coaching on a road race bike?
A. Juniors can start coaching on a road race bike at 12 years 9 months and race at 13.
